Weatherproofing the antenna-feeder system for wireless cellular networks is a very important requirement.  Until today, installers used mastic tape or cold shrink to weatherproof connections.  These techniques have lead to many problems.
1. Using mastic tape or cold shrink processes are time consuming and require installer related skill sets. Small errors can lead to severe service related issues. 

2. Tape and cold shrink weatherproofing processes are subject to short time span aging and lifespan issues.
